Variable-Speed Magnetic Drills
Variable-speed magnetic drills offer the precision needed to match the drill to the annular cutter and the material being drilled. Harder materials such as stainless steel and alloy steels must be drilled at lower speeds whereas softer materials such as aluminum can be drilled at higher speeds.
The size of the hole being cut with variable-speed drills will also impact the type of cutter and its lifespan. Smaller holes can typically be drilled at higher speeds. As the size of the hole increases, the speed of the drill should decrease to minimize the risk of damage to the cutter and workpiece.
Benefits of magnetic drills with variable-speed adjustability:
- Increased cutter life – match annular cutter to the material being drilled
- Increased productivity - less tool changeover
- Increased ROI - matching cutter to material and running at recommended speeds increases the life of the magnetic drill
