DRILLING STAINLESS STEEL OR NON-FERROUS METALS WITH A MAGNETIC DRILL
The best way to drill stainless steel or non-ferrous metals with a magnetic drills is with a Vaccum Plate System (ZAV) from CS Unitec.
The magnetic base of a mag drill does not adhere to non-ferrous metals like Aluminum, Aluminum Alloys, Stainless Steel, Copper, Brass, Lead, Zinc, etc. For such non-ferrous material, we have an innovative solution for drilling with a magnetic drill.
In simple words, the vaccum plate is placed on the non-ferrous metal to be drilled. A vacuum pump is connected to the plate which makes the vacuum plate suction clamp to the metal. The magnetic drill is then placed on this vacuum plate which is made of ferrous that the magnet can adhere to. This way the magnetic drill is securely fixed on the vacuum plate and is ready to drill holes in non-ferrous metals.
How To Use A Vacuum Plate:
1. Place the clamping plate on the clean work-piece to de drilled.
2. Connect the vacuum pump to the clamping plate with the tube provided.
3. Switch ON the vacuum pump.
4a. ZAV 300: Place the Magnetic drilling machine on the clamping plate. Insert the annular cutter into the magnetic drilling machine, position the pilot pin, switch on the magnet of the magnetic drilling machine and proceed to drill as per the user manual of the magnetic drilling machine.
4b. ZAV 400: (Drilling Stainless Steel) Place the Magnetic drilling machine on the suction areas of the clamping plate in a position that the annular cutter enters through the internal drilling area of the clamping plate. Insert the annular cutter into the magnetic drilling machine, position the pilot pin, switch on the magnet of the magnetic drilling machine and proceed to drill as per the user manual of the magnetic drilling machine. |
